Our goal is to complement and enhance the industry’s labor pool by supporting the most effective training and apprenticeship programs, as well as seminars and continuing education.
Featured Training Grants:
Residential Construction Safety Training: The Endowment provided funding to the NAHB Labor, Safety & Health Services Department to develop a 10-hour training program in Residential Construction Safety to help those working in the home building industry work more safely and comply with OSHA regulations.
Home Builders Institute (HBI)/Job Corps Graduates Support: The Endowment offers grant support to help graduates of the HBI/Job Corps program who are in financial need as they make the transition from training to the work site. The program also provides direct support in areas ranging from updating classroom equipment and materials to helping new graduates buy worksite gear and tools.
HBI/Junior Achievement Partnership Program: The Endowment funded a partnership with HBI and Junior Achievement to reach school-aged populations and to engage HBA's and industry-related professionals in high school program activities to increase awareness of residential construction careers.
Residential Construction Academy Series: This program, supported by a grant from the Endowment, works to develop skill standards for the primary craft trades, The standards will be used in textbook and training programs designed for students in high school, community college and workforce preparation programs. The program has since been renamed the Residential Construction Academy Series.
Project CREW (Construction Readiness for Women): The Endowment supported this innovative training program designed to give women the skills necessary for pursuing employment in the construction field.
Residential Construction Superintendent Designation: The Endowment provided grant support for the development of training for the Field Superintendent Designation. Core areas of the training include general project management, safety and security, codes and quality control, planning and scheduling, hiring, training and supervision and a variety of other essential topics.
Residential Construction Craft Skills Certification: The Endowment provided funding to develop industry certification for instructors for the Residential Construction Academy in secondary and post-secondary schools that teach the craft trades.
Challenge/Build/Grow Initiative: Through this program, the Endowment provides matching funds to local and state Home Builder Associations to support initiatives that create community partnerships to address the priorities of education, workforce training, and land use.
